The vision for Well of Life Ministries was birthed in Altha from within the gospel of John when Jesus spoke to a Samaritan woman who was an outcast in her community. As the Lord Jesus took the initiative to address this woman, He purposed to awaken within her heart a thirst for living water. He knew she was not just a woman filling an empty clay water pot, for He saw deep into her heart and understood that she was searching for life and fulfillment on her own. So He said to her, "Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life." (John 4:10) In this hour of her conversion the Samaritan woman then went out to tell others of the marvelous thing that God had done for her!
Unless A Grain of Wheat is a collection of the very truths that were compiled and worked out in Altha's life as a young Christian, much like the Samaritan woman, bringing her into fullness of faith. In 2000, it was broken down into individual "bite sizes" called Treasures of Truth. In this way it would better meet individual needs in somewhat smaller and more "digestible" portions. Comprised of narrative, illustrative diagrams, and in-depth personal study questions, it will expand and enhance any student’s understanding.
As you will see, Treasures of Truth is more than a Bible study. It is a self-directed study intended to “walk” serious disciples of Jesus into truths that will draw each one into deeper relationship with Jesus. Based on the Old Testament types and shadows of the nation of Israel’s journey from Egypt to Canaan, Altha's teaching reveals the truths necessary for a follower of Christ to walk by faith in this present world. It is the journey of transformation from new birth to the fullness of maturity in Christ.
It is the vision of Well of Life Ministries to lead people of all nations and languages into a deeper knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ through these strategic teachings called Treasures of Truth. In the passage in John 4, the woman at the well ran back into the village to share with the men in the city about this amazing Man named Jesus, and challenged them to meet Him themselves!
Treasures of Truth, along with Altha's book, Come Up Higher and the CD of her personal testimony of Him have been distributed widely over the years, leading many people of all walks of life into relationship with this same Jesus. Like the woman at the well who began to draw upon Jesus, Altha came to Him through the new birth and then started drinking from His fullness out of the Word of God, the Bible. As she continued beholding the Lord Jesus...as she kept drinking from Him...she learned that she thirsted no more for other things, all of her needs had indeed been met out of His fullness.
Only He truly satisfied her desires, and only He is her fulfillment...and continues to be until His return.
Altha is currently the Founder and Overseer of both Well of Life Ministries, Inc. and Staying Up Higher Ministry. She also serves as an Advisory Board Member for Jeremiah's Promise in Mountain View, CA.
She lives in Sunnyvale with her husband, Greg Burts. They have two adult children: Esther (married to John Milo) who lives in Mountain View, CA and Joshua who lives in Seattle, WA.
Kevin Pasion
Executive Officer
For over 23 years, Kevin and Vicki have served together, studying and teaching God's Word. They both experienced God’s call into full time ministry at Hume Lake summer camp in 1985. Their passion has been to be a part of the process of God’s molding and shaping the lives of young people, teaching them to study God’s Word and discipling them to walk in the light of His truth. Over the years God has grown and developed this passion to include all generations.
Vicki was introduced to Altha and the Treasures of Truth after a debilitating bout of depression. There she began to see Jesus indeed as the Lord of Glory—the eyes of her heart being opened to Him by the Holy Spirit through the word of God: risen, ascended, and seated now at the right hand of God His Father.
Her life has been transformed through walking out the truths learned in Treasures of Truth. This has brought healing to her soul and a peace that passes understanding into her relationships as well as her ministry.
Because Vicki had grown up memorizing God’s word and yet missing so much of the deeper truths, Kevin and Vicki began to be aware of the need--not only in their own lives, but also in the churches--to have a more effective, balanced teaching of the practical working out of our salvation and new identity in Christ. They are using Treasures of Truth now in the church they pastor as foundational to its discipleship ministry. They consider these truths to be a vital part of every believer's journey of faith, whether a new believer or someone who's been in church their entire life. They share a passion to promote Treasures of Truth, and are praying that God will use them to spread His glory throughout the world.
